Frequently Asked Questions

Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) is an online visa application system for travellers visiting United States either by Sea or Air. ESTA application system is entirely online and there are no forms that need to be printed and you do not have to go to a U.S. Embassy or Consulate in person. Only travellers who hold a valid nationality from countries covered under the Visa Waiver Program are eligible to apply for an ESTA.

Visa Waiver Program is a United States government initiative that helps citizens from within the limited set of Visa Waiver Countries to enter the United States for either tourism, transit or business purposes for up to 90 days without needing to obtain a traditional visa. So it helps travellers to plan a quick trip to the US within a short period of time.

All travellers visiting United States (by air or sea) under the Visa Waiver Program are required to hold a valid ESTA travel authorization. The purpose of ESTA is to pre-screen all Visa Waiver Travellers before they leave their respective countries.
